Public Awareness and Education

Past Performances

Participants at the Centre for the Arts in Human Development have traditionally staged musical theatre performances at the end of their second year. These performances explore themes related to participants’ challenges, such as self-discovery and the power of inner strength.

Our past productions include:

To further enhance the connection with the community, question and answer periods with the actors were added to some performances. Art exhibits of participants’ works, created alongside the play process and allied with the theme of the show, also serve to enhance the public's understanding of the abilities of people with special needs.

In concert with our mission to provide educational opportunities, these productions are often developed in collaboration with performing arts students from Concordia University, who work on all aspects of the production–from actor coaching to set design–as part of independent study courses.
